Genital Herpes Explained

Genital herpes is caused by the herpes simplex virus. It is a sexually transmitted disease with a high rate of infection because it very often only shows minimal signs and symptoms and people are not aware they are suffering from it. This would be to reduce the possibility of the baby contracting the herpes whilst being born.

There is no actual medication to cure herpes, but it can usually be controlled quite effectively. The treatment of choice is usually antiviral medication which if prescribed and used within a particular time frame can usually minimise the outbreak.
