What is chlamydia anyway? Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease brought upon by Chlamydia trachomatis, a bacterium which might damage the reproductive organs. 1. Antiobiotics do the trick.

Chlamydia can be treated and cured using antibiotics. Azithromycin or doxycycline taken twice daily for a week is the most common form of treatment for this STD. People with HIV must get the same treatment as those tested HIV-negative.

2. Tests must be performed.

Sex partners must willingly subject themselves to evaluation, tests and treatments.

3. No sex please.

Men with chlamydia must abstain from sex while undergoing treatment. This is to avoid potential reinfection.

4. Use latex condoms.

Latex condoms, if used regularly and properly, might reduce the risk of having chlamydia.

5. Be responsible.

Upon discovering that a man has chlamydia, he must inform all his sex partners right away and find a health care provider who will help him with the treatment.

Chlamydia does sound threatening and frightening especially if it happens to a man, as it is more common to women. But as long as the man is educated enough and knows how to keep himself from developing serious complications and prevent potential reinfection, he will turn out fine and healthy.
